Empty" is a song by American-Scottish alternative rock band Garbage. It was released as the lead single from their sixth studio album Strange Little Birds (2016) on 20 April 2016 by their independent label Stunvolume. The promotional video for "Empty" was helmed by Samuel Bayer, who also directed the first Garbage videos from their debut album. The video shows the band playing in a room with various flashing colored light effects as well as confetti occasionally raining down from the ceiling.

Garbage is the debut studio album by American rock band Garbage. It was released on August 15, 1995, by Almo Sounds. The album was met with critical acclaim upon its release, being viewed by some as an innovative recording for its time. It reached number 20 on the US Billboard 200 and number six on the UK Albums Chart, while charting inside the top 20 and receiving multi-platinum certifications in several territories.

Empty sets the tone for Garbage’s forthcoming album. Frontwoman Shirley Manson has called the new music romantic and more vulnerable than any music the band has released, and the band went into it with a similar mentality to what they had when recording their self-titled debut 21 years ago. As she said in a press release, What I mean by romance, really, is vulnerability. The album is set to be released on June 10th.
