Joshua S. Porter, better known by his stage name Josh Dies (born June 12, 1983) is an American singer, songwriter, musician and novelist. Porter is widely known as the vocalist and songwriter for the band Showbread. His debut novel, The Spinal Cord Perception, was released in December 2006 and features a dark, postmodern style similar to Chuck Palahniuk, Bret Easton Ellis, and many other Generation X novelists. Besides several other novels, he has also authored a children's book. However, it was rewarded by Revolver Magazine to be the best Screamo album of the year, and Showbread’s already respectable and rabid fan base was propelled by the thousands.

Hover over image to zoom. Started in 1976, based in NYC, the band was quite popular at CBGB and MAX’s KANSAS CITY. In 1979 they released an amazing 7 ("TEDDY CRASHES BLOND DIES, SOME OTHER BOYS") now totally impossible to find. Their sound was directly inspired from bands such NY Dolls and Heartbreakers. Pure NYC punk’n’ roll sensations!!!

The Teddy Boys or Teds were a mainly British subculture of young men wearing clothes partly inspired by the styles worn by dandies in the Edwardian period, which Savile Row tailors had attempted to re-introduce in Britain after the Second World War. The fashion phenomenon often referred to as Teddy Boy style appeared in Britain during the mid 1950s as a rebellious side effect to the introduction of American Rock and Roll music. The Teddy Boy was a uniquely British phenomenon.

Teddy boys referred to themselves as Teds. Teddy Boy definition by The Concise New Partridge Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English. Teddy Boys were the first real high profile rebel teenagers, who flaunted their clothes and attitude like a badge, It comes as no surprise then that the media was quick to paint them as a menace and violent based on a single incident. This new generation of Teds adopted some aspects of the 1950s but with a large glam rock influence, including louder colours for drape jackets, brothel creepers and socks, and shiny satin shirts worn with bootlace ties, jeans and big-buckled belts. Additionally, they were more likely to use hairspray than grease to style their hair.

Solid punk rock record and right up there with Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers LAMF and Richard Hell & The Voidoids. If you miss CBGB'S & Max's Kansas City (where these guys were pretty much regulars) & the dirty, dangerous New York City of the 1970's, then you are gonna love this record. This record was recorded at A-1 Studio which was in The Ansonia Hotel, which also housed Plato's Retreat. The hotel was on 73rd Street and Broadway just a block away from Needle Park. The pictures on the sleeve were taken at an old beat up photo booth at a long gone Coney Island Boardwalk Penny Arcade. All of this history can be heard and felt in the songs on this record. A real rarity and piece of Rock & Roll history.
