The Teddy Boys or Teds were a mainly British subculture of young men wearing clothes partly inspired by the styles worn by dandies in the Edwardian period, which Savile Row tailors had attempted to re-introduce in Britain after the Second World War. The fashion phenomenon often referred to as Teddy Boy style appeared in Britain during the mid 1950s as a rebellious side effect to the introduction of American Rock and Roll music. The Teddy Boy was a uniquely British phenomenon.
