Per un amico ("For a Friend") is the second album from the Italian progressive rock band Premiata Forneria Marconi. Released in 1972 by all the initial members of the group, it is considered their breakthrough album that put them on the map. The album remains popular among progressive rock fans throughout Italy and the group will usually still perform all tracks on the album today.
Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM) (translation: Award-winning Marconi Bakery) is an Italian progressive rock band founded in 1970 and which continues to the present day. They were the first Italian group to have success internationally. The group recorded five albums with English lyrics between 1973 and 1977. During this period they entered both the British and American charts.
PREMIATA FORNERIA MARCONI are the most widely known and lauded Italian symphonic prog and with records like Per Un Amico is one of their best. The music isn't really as progressive or symphonic as the major symphonic acts like Yes that were around at the time but it is still in the same league, it's just got a different and distinct flavour to it favouring more laid back acoustic guitar style arrangements. Per Un Amico has become the breakthrough album for Premiata Forneria Marconi and a centerpiece of their career for years to come. It's difficult to explain what makes this release so much better than what this Italian band has or will achieve with any simple answer, but I will try my best. I consider the material here only slightly better than the other albums although there is a definite improvement in the sound recording department compared to Storia Di Un Minuto.

Premiata Forneria Marconi. Released February 1972. Storia di un minuto Tracklist. 1. Introduzione Lyrics. Storia di un Minuto (english: ‘Story of a Minute’) is the debut concept album of the italian Progressive Rock Band ‘Premiata Forneria Marconi’. It tells the story of a man that wakes up in his home in the countryside and suddenly see all the moments and decisions that he could live/do and could have lived/been done in his life. Storia di un minuto Q&A.
In 1972 the Premiata Forneria Marconi was: Franco Mussida: Vocals, 12 String guitar, Theorbo, Mandocello, Guitar Franz Di Cioccio: Drums, Percussion, Vocals Mauro Pagani: Flute, Piccolo, Violin, Vocals Giorgio Piazza: Bass, Vocals Flavio Premoli: Spinet, Keyboards, Organ, Mellotron, Piano, Vocals. It's hard to talk about the songs separately because as any progressive album, Per un Amico was made as a "whole" not as a lot of different songs that have nothing to do with each other and are there just to fill space, however, if we talk about the highlights of the album, we can name Appena un Pò (easily the best.
