John Berberian And The Rock East Ensemble. Middle Eastern Rock ‎(LP, Album, Promo). Verve Forecast, Verve Forecast. Then I read here that the track is in the Public Domain, so I was wondering where can this be checked, and where did that piece of information come from?

Catherine Anahid "Cathy" Berberian (July 4, 1925 – March 6, 1983) was an American mezzo-soprano and composer based in Italy. She interpreted contemporary avant-garde music composed, among others, by Luciano Berio, Bruno Maderna, John Cage, Henri Pousseur, Sylvano Bussotti, Darius Milhaud, Roman Haubenstock-Ramati, and Igor Stravinsky.

Lyrics & chords of John Berberian And The Rock East Ensemble  . One of the ‘classic’ albums that bridge classical Arab lute playing with rock music, and beyond, is this one, partly because of the involvement of Joe Beck and his fuzz guitar. He did the same for flamenco with Sabicas around 1966, adding electric guitar skills, grounded in blues and R&B, trying to open up one world and bridging with the other.

John Berberian, son of Yervant and Sirpouhi, was born in New York City and graduated from Columbia University in New York with a bachelor’s degree in business and a minor in music. Although his father played the oud, he wanted John to study what he considered to be a more respectable, western instrument. His Middle Eastern Rock album on the Verve label in the late 60’s defined generations of world music enthusiasts and is known as one the first Middle-Eastern fusion albums. This innovative recording, 40 years after its introduction, is still in demand and highly acclaimed. In 1973, John established a home recording studio and his own record label, Olympia Records, through which he continued to release best-selling recordings, such as A Mid Eastern Odyssey, Echoes of Armenia, and The Dance Album. He also recorded albums for other artists.

Each recording in this exceptional new set of 56 CDs comes from the best original source. Sony Classical's Igor Stravinsky - The Complete Columbia Album Collection thus represents a major new milestone in the discography of the 20th century's greatest composer
