The Hour of Two Lights is a one-off collaborative album between British solo-artist Terry Hall - formerly of the 2 Tone and ska revival band The Specials - and Mushtaq, a member of British-based multi-ethnic hip-hop–ethno-techno–world fusion music group Fun-Da-Mental. The album was written and produced by the duo, with the exception of "Ten Eleven" which was written with Oujdi and Hall's regular collaborator and label-boss of Honest Jon's; Damon Albarn

Terry Hall has had a decidedly patchy career since his glory days with the Specials and Fun Boy Three in the late 1970s and 1980s. Now he has returned with his best work in decades: a collaboration with Mushtaq, formerly with British-Asian band Fun-Da-Mental. They are joined by a 12-year-old Lebanese girl singer, a blind Algerian rapper, a Syrian flautist, Hebrew vocalists, a group of Polish Gypsies and Damon Albarn

Inspired world music outing is first album in six years from former Specials frontman Hall. Like his mate Damon Albarn, on whose Honest Jon’s label The Hour Of Two Lights appears, Terry Hall has been bitten by the world music bug. But whereas the Blur lead singer travelled to Africa for his inspiration, the former Specials singer has turned his attention to eastern Europe and the Middle East on a fantastic record of banging global grooves, with beats supplied by the British-Asian DJ/producer, Mushtaq

It seems appropriate, then, that they have no issue remixing Terry Hall & Mushtaq, two experimental artists with a similar flair for musical diversity. The Hour Of Two Lights appeared on an album of the same name in 2003, and included almost 20 multi-cultural collaborators such as a blind Algerian rapper and Damon Albarn of Gorillaz. While it sounds very ambitious, this remix is delightfully well balanced. It pushes the listener just outside their auditory comfort zone.
