Description

On his third trio outing, Joe Morris uses his rhythm section of Sebastian Steinberg and Jerry Deupree on bass and drums, respectively, acoustically. Flip & Spike is a series of works that vary in length and texture that are designed to expand the use of the guitar in the jazz setting. This stands in stark contrast to the loose funk and groove of Sweatshop, its predecessor. Morris' line is long, moving across measures.

Flip and Spike is an album by American jazz guitarist Joe Morris released in 1992 on his own Riti label. It features a trio with Jerome Deupree, who was the original drummer in the rock band Morphine, and bassist Sebastian Steinberg.

Joe Morris Trio - Flip and Spike (Riti Records - 1992) - "Flip & Spike is the first of Morris' recordings that articulate his signature investigations of the guitar as an instrument of sonic density and dexterity, not just as a solo vehicle. As such, and as a work of striking emotional commitment, it is quite remarkable. All Music - Get this before it's too late! Only 1 copy left! and also you can have it on Digital format

Altitude is an album by American jazz guitarist Joe Morris which was recorded live in 2011 and released on the AUM Fidelity label. It documents the first time performance by Morris, bassist William Parker and drummer Gerald Cleaver as a trio during a two-week of dates curated at John Zorn's club The Stone by label owner Steven Joerg. For the second set, excerpted in the final two cuts of the album, Parker played sintir, the Moroccan bass lute, instead of upright bass Altitude. Live album by Joe Morris.
