Weld, Neil Young's two-hour-plus double-CD chronicle of his 1991 Ragged Glory/Smell the Horse Tour with Crazy Horse, was received with only mild enthusiasm from Young's fans and rock critics, perhaps because it seemed redundant. Such warhorses as "Like a Hurricane" and "Cortez the Killer" were making their fourth appearances on a Young album, and the five songs from the Ragged Glory album were basically unchanged from their studio versions.
Album · 1991 · 16 Songs. Riding high on the success of 1990’s Ragged Glory, Neil and the Horse waded deeper into the sludge with this live document of that album’s tour. Beyond roughing up garage-band classics like Cinnamon Girl, Weld boasts some startling reinventions: Freedom’s hushed acoustic Crime in the City is reborn as a righteous rager, while the air-siren-blasted cover of Blowin’ in the Wind is a potent reminder of the dark shadow the Gulf War cast over the tour. Weld (Live) Neil Young.

Life is an album by Canadian musician Neil Young and his backing band Crazy Horse, and it is Young's last release on the Geffen label. Like their 1979 album Rust Never Sleeps, Young and the Horse performed most of this album's songs live with the exceptions of "Cryin' Eyes" and "We Never Danced" which were recorded in studio. The album was released on July 6, 1987. The first three tracks all handle the topic of world politics, and ponder the role of the United States in the world.
Neil Young was in the middle of a career renaissance when he hit the road with Crazy Horse in early 1991. Their new album Ragged Glory was hailed as their finest in a decade and the group was playing songs old and new with a stunning level of energy and passion. The live album Weld captured the best moments on a two-CD set. The 14-minute rendition of "Like A Hurricane" remains one of the best version of the tune, while concert staples "Cortez The Killer," "Powderfinger" and "Hey Hey, My My (In The Black)" have never sounded so vital
