Philip H. Anselmo and the Illegals. Walk Through Exits Only. SME, The Orchard Music (от лица компании "Season of Mist").
Walk Through Exits Only is utterly relentless in it's progress. There's little in the way of light and shade –certainly nowhere to relax – and that's probably the intention, but as a piece of heavy music –in a music industry where it would be very easy for Anselmo to play it a little safe – it's as daring and as experimental an album as you're likely to hear all year. The 2013 version of Philip Anselmo calls his own shots and takes the resulting feedback –good or bad – squarely on the chin. He's earned that right
Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals. Album Walk Through Exits Only. How can they sleep with themselves at night? When the blur that surrounds them distracts and then blinds? This is a call for mass awareness This is the time to stand resolute Resolute. You’ve been betrayed Insult, insult, insult You’ve been betrayed Insult, insult, insult You’ve been betrayed Insult, insult, insult, insult. How can you crash so contented at night? When the engine that drives you is bullshit disguised? This is a call for mass preparedness We must stand resolute Inherently resolute
Walk Through Exits Only will most likely be met with mixed criticisms. It is a one-of-a-kind work, and for a man with a career as established and versatile as Anselmo's, there is no pleasing everybody. Hardcore Pantera fans may find much lacking in the way of grooves and hooks, while fans of Down may not appreciate the ferocious grinding and heaviness. Either way, no one can deny that this is a true effort and unique one at that

Though Walk Through Exits Only is definitely a refreshing departure for Anselmo, the band behind him shouldn't be overlooked. Guitarist Marzi Montazeri, drummer José Manuel Gonzalez, and bassist Bennett Bartley provide an ever-changing landscape of punishing metal that mercilessly shoves listeners in every direction without ever letting them settle down and take in everything that's happening around them.
Anselmo and the Illegals will support the new album with a major North American tour planned for this summer. Anselmo, who is up for Best Vocalist at this year's Revolver Golden Gods awards, will make a special appearance at that event. On Walk Through Exits Only and over his entire career, Anselmo hasn't just paved his own path, he's bulldozed it with his bare hands. Vinyl (July 16, 2013).
Since day one, Walk through Exits Only was billed as Anselmo’s return to hyper-aggressive, high-testosterone metal, a style which was largely created by him and has spawned countless imitators since. That’s great and all, except that Anselmo 1) hasn’t made a metal record in about a decade, and 2) has gone through some serious health issues since then. The rest of the Illegals do alright for themselves as well. I have no idea where the fuck guitarist Marzi Montazeri came from - supposedly he was in Superjoint, though I don’t recall seeing him during their short existence - but it’s been much too long since we’ve heard Phil’s crusty voice accompanied by some shred-ass lead guitar. Montazeri is no Dimebag Darrell, but he has a similar instinct to balance Anselmo’s relentless anger with somewhat melodic and entertaining solos.
