JEFF the Brotherhood is an American two-piece rock band consisting of brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall, hailing from Nashville, Tennessee. In 2012, JEFF the Brotherhood performed live instrumentation for Insane Clown Posse's single for Third Man Records, "Leck mich im Arsch", a rearrangement of a Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composition produced by Jack White. They also released a live EP recorded at United Record Pressing called Upstairs At United, Vol. 3 for Record Store Day. JEFF The Brotherhood teamed up with Dan Auerbach to produce their latest studio album and first album on Warner Bros. Records, Hypnotic Nights. The album was recorded in just one week at Dan's Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville,.

On October 18th, 2011, JEFF The Brotherhood joined by William Tyler (Tompkins Square), Loney Hutchins (Cleft Records) and Joey Plunket in recording Volume 3 of the Upstairs at United series. Each song in this session was recorded in a single take direct to inch tape then cut at 45 RPM for the ultimate listening experience. JEFF The Brotherhood, the sibling duo of Jake & Jamin Orrall show their prog rock side on this recording.

"In Space No One Can Hear You Scream" was the last song recorded in this session but was moved and split into two parts to better fit the time constraints of the vinyl LP. At the end of Part II the flutter and sudden end is the sound of the band playing as the recording ran out of tape.
