Aaron Stewart Home, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Stewart home album - proletarian post-modernism released by test centre, london, november 2013. An extract taken from one of Home's more recent books, Blood Rites of the Bourgeoisie morphs a list of who's who in the art world to penis enlargement spam

Stewart Home is known in Russia for such works as 69 Things to Do with a Dead Princes, Slow death, Blow Job. In an interview with Young Space magazine, the writer told about new works, attitudes towards social networks and about sexual magic, and also explained why his early novels are relevant today. But unless you see things like the two video promos I scripted for my spoken word album Proletarian Post-Modernism (you can see the one banned by YouTube on my Vimeo channel), then I haven’t really thought about scripting porn films. Obviously I know porn star Gina Snake who appeared in those album promos, although she left London a couple of years ago to go back to Valencia, so I haven’t seen her for a while.

Stewart Home (photo by Marc Atkins). Stewart Home is a novelist, poet and artist from South London. Existing at the fringes of the mainstream literary world, his novels read like a collision of Jonathan Swift, William Burroughs and Jean-Luc Godard. Proletarian Post-Modernism features the short story Cunt Lickers Anonymous, which satirises establishment writers like Martin Amis and Salman Rushdie. What is it about these writers you disliked? They were backward, stupid, reactionary and posh.

Pure Mania (King Mob, London 1998). Marx, Christ & Satan United in Struggle (Molotov Records 1999). Proletarian Post-Modernism (Test Centre 2013). NATURAL SELECTION (1998 organised by Graham Harwood & Matt Fuller, funded by the Arts Council).

Proletarian Post-Modernism (Test Centre 2013). Funded Internet projects. TORK RADIO (1998 organised by Cambridge Junction, funded with lottery money). Humanity in Ruins, Central Space (London, February/March 1988). Vermeer II, workfortheeyetodo (London July to September 1996). Becoming (M)other, Artspace (London December 2004 to January 2005). In Transition Russia, NCCA (Moscow, November/December 2008).

On the record he recites large sections of his books from memory, speaks standing on his head, performs acts of ventriloquism and shreds one of his books.

Notes

Proletarian Post-Modernism is a 12″ LP by Stewart Home composed of an idiosyncratic live performance from 2012 and a studio reading of ‘Cunt Lickers Anonymous’. Side A’s live recording features readings from a broad selection of Home’s repertoire of novels, with extracts from Down & Out in Shoreditch and Hoxton, Memphis Underground, 69 Things to Do with a Dead Princess and Blood Rites of the Bourgeoisie. The last of these was recited by Home while standing on his head and is therefore the sound of upside down! The performance also includes a reading of 6 poems which use found texts, and culminates with Home shredding one of his books. The side provides a full view of Home’s lively and unique shows.

As Stewart writes in the record’s sleeve notes: ‘Just stick the record on and laugh your ass off.’

Proletarian Post-Modernism was released on 23 November 2013 and was launched with a performance by Stewart at The Test Centre in Stoke Newington.

The album is available in a limited edition of 300 copies with a pictorial inner sleeve and lyric sheet.
