Here is something really special for the weekend. But remember, brothers and sisters, you can still stand tall. Just be thankful for what you’ve got. -– It’s also worth listening the killer 12 inch version of this classic song and check you tube for the disco version as well.
The Three Sounds song "Put On Train", from the 1971 Gene Harris album The 3 Sounds was featured as the prominent background sample in the hip-hop group Beastie Boys song "What Comes Around" on their 1989 album Paul's Boutique. It previously stated here that this sample came from the Three Sounds album Live at the It Club, recorded in 1970, however this was not released (on Live at the It Club Vol. 2) until 2000. 1958: Introducing the 3 Sounds (Blue Note). 1958: Introducing the 3 Sounds Vol. 2 (Blue Note) . 1960: It Just Got to Be (Blue Note). 1960: Blue Hour (Blue Note) with Stanley Turrentine. 1961: Here We Come (Blue Note).
It sounds like you’re lying in a field somewhere with somebody who you’re crazy about, or floating down a river on a summer’s day. Patrice Rushen: Number One, 1982. Chosen by Róisín Murphy. Music sounds and feels different outside in nature than it does in a room. It’s got one of the all-time great intros from any track ever. The whole band is going at the beginning and it just keeps going up and up and up, and then it just goes into the track. It gives you a real, tangible lift. The song has this incredibly light touch – I associate these light, bouncy grooves with summer. Megan Thee Stallion is a female rapper from Texas and this is my favourite track from the album she dropped a few months ago. It’s a strip-club song: my friends and I twerk to it. Every single party, it’s guaranteed to get the girls moving.
