In a similar vein to this album the music is primarily orchestrated and symphonic throughout playing like the soundtrack to a movie.
The album was remixed and partly re-recorded for the 1983 release on The Enid's own label; and most CD reissues contain the longer (30 minute) version of "Fand" that was originally released as a stand-alone album The Enid - Fand.
Of The Enid's second album, Aerie Faerie Nonsense, Robert John Godfrey said this: .. we had to take the piss out of ourselves a bit to get the music across. Regardless of whether that statement is purely honest or not, Aerie Faerie Nonsense could actually live up to its name in some music critics' eyes. The fact that every song on the album has several twists and turns, meandering from one singular instrument to the next, weaving through as many styles of classical music as possible before returning to the oddities and obscurities of Progressive Rock

THE ENID's second album, "Aerie Faerie Nonsense", is released. In spite of their music being wholly at odds with the punk ethic of the time, and encountering a very mixed response from both music press and record industry, The Enid steadily build up a large fan following. Curiously, punks and hippies unite in appreciation of the music. Aerie Faerie Nonsense gives the listener what they want: progressive and classical music. Great reproduction sounds fabulous. Simply gorgeous! . The Enid - Aerie Faerie Nonsense (1977).
