Digable Planets - Where I'm From - Продолжительность: 5:11 What's for afters? .

If Digable Planets were the product of a specific time, they also came together in a specific place. Blowout Comb, their second and final album, which was first released in 1994 and now returns in the form of this gorgeous and beautiful-sounding vinyl reissue from Light in the Attic, is practically a love letter to the Brooklyn neighborhood of Fort Greene. It’s a part of the borough with a long history (Walt Whitman lived here), and not all of it was rosy (in the 1970s and 80s, crime in the area was endemic).

The group's second album Blowout Comb was released in 1994. The album was noted by critics as a stark departure from the previous album, being darker, less hook-oriented and more overtly political in its references to Black Panther and Communist imagery a beguiling, demanding, damn near revolutionary follow-up. Blowout Comb features guest appearances from artists Jeru the Damaja, Sulaiman and Guru of Gang Starr  . Digable Planets held a reunion tour during spring and summer 2016. Following up with a live record Digable Planets Live in late June 2017. Solo work and collaborations.

Digable Planets, Blowout Comb (1994). How will history remember an album like this" The hip-hop listening community’s approach to music new and old seems increasingly pitched toward an outright rejection of anything that aspires to be intellectual, a tag that has been associated with the long-defunct trio Digable Planets from the beginning. There are a bunch of reasons for this-accusations of cultural appropriation, distaste for big words, genuine aesthetic aversion-but the whole business is starting to seem a little silly

LP (12" album, 33 rpm). Digable Planets Format: Vinyl. We are finally set to reissue Blowout Comb, the 1994 second album by cult, Brooklyn-based hip hop trio Digable Planets. The album is named for the combs used to maintain an Afro hairstyle, and that's significant. The group's Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler said it summed up what they wanted to do with it: "It means the utilization of the natural, a natural style," he has said

Blowout Comb is the second and final studio album by American hip hop group Digable Planets, released October 18, 1994, on Pendulum/EMI Records. The album was written and recorded in Brooklyn, New York, where the group moved, with recording sessions beginning in 1993 and finishing in 1994. On Blowout Comb, Digable Planets abandoned the radio friendly style of their debut album and worked with a more stripped-down sound. The album features a diverse range of samples and live instruments, and contains lyrical themes of the inner city and Black nationalism

Digable Planets is a rap trio formed in Brooklyn in 1987, and "Blowout comb" is their second and last real album. He was released in 1994, at a very exciting time for rap. Many musical genres are explored by hip hop, the fusion with jazz is one of the most important. The two albums of Digable Planets are other perfect examples. The album is very balanced:.

List of major samples: 4 samples Bob James' "Blue Lick"; 5 samples Roy Ayers' "We Live In Brooklyn, Baby"; 7 samples Tavares' "Bad Times"; 8 samples Bobbi Humphrey's "Blacks & Blues"; 11 samples Bobbi Humphrey's "Jasper Country Man"; 12 samples Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five's "Superrappin' Theme"; and 13 samples Shuggie Otis' "Island Letter". People expecting the same as "Reachin'" were surprised by the tone of this, the DP's second CD, which was a lot more Afro-centric and politically-minded than their first. Maybe that's why this wasn't as successful.

This is a very deep recording.
