Buoys sublimates this influence as if dissolving it in the album’s watery texture, threading each composition with a subtle application of modern production tics.

Buoys is the sixth studio album by American musician Panda Bear, released on February 8, 2019. It was preceded by the lead single "Dolphin", released along with its music video, and features collaborations with Chilean DJ Lizz and Portuguese singer Dino D'Santiago. The album was co-produced by Panda Bear (Noah Lennox) with Rusty Santos in Lisbon, Portugal, where Lennox now lives. The last record the two worked on was Lennox's 2007 album Person Pitch.

The last three Panda Bear full-lengths-2007’s Person Pitch, 2011’s Tomboy, and 2015’s Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper-were light and airy. The primary instrument on Buoys is acoustic guitar, which is not a new thing for Lennox. In the middle of the last decade, Lennox used acoustic guitars on records like Sung Tongs and Young Prayer like an extension of his body, creating a drone effect that sounded more like breathing. But the acoustic guitar on Buoys doesn’t sound played, exactly-it’s more a device for sending ripples of chords across the stereo field at regular intervals, or else short, declarative chops of rhythm. It sounds disembodied.

One of the Boys is the second studio album, and the first mainstream album under the name of Katy Perry. The album was first released on June 17, 2008 in the United States and Canada. The theme of the songs on the album are very different, and more pop, than Perry's first self-titled album, Katy Hudson. An EP, Ur So Gay, which contains the album's promotional single, "Ur So Gay", was released to generate interest on the singer and the then-upcoming album.

Buoys also reunites Panda Bear with co-producer Rusty Santos; the pair last worked together on Panda Bear’s breakthrough 2007 solo album Person Pitch. Panda Bear’s previous two albums, 2011’s Tomboy and 2015’s Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper, were co-produced by Spacemen 3’s Pete Sonic Boom Kember

This album is most famous for containing a recording of Rupert Holmes's "Timothy", a song deliberately written to get banned from radio play, based on a theme of cannibalism.
