Seluj Renttalb - The Mishtabula Maine Marching Band And Soil Savation Society ‎(LP, Album).

Mishtabula, Maine-pop. Seluj Renttalb Jules Blattner spelt backwards. Nor can I figure out who it was intended for (stoned Wonderama fans?) or why a major label, even a major label as hopeless as MGM in 1972, would have bothered to release it. The degree to which this evokes Komar & Melamid's "The Most Unwanted Song" is uncanny.

The Mishtabula Maine Marching Band And Soil Savation Society ‎(LP, Album). Jules Blattner, Jules Blattner & Warren Groovey Band. Jules Blattner, Jules Blattner & Warren Groovey Band - I Love You, Mary Hartman, Jump In, Get Some ‎(7", Single). Blue Ribbon Records (2). BRR 102. Love Society - Do You Wanna Dance, Without You (Single).

Next up is an album from the Nashville duo of Marty Bowen and John Estigoy, who seemingly were largely purveyors of country-inflected middle-of-the-road loungy sounds - not generally my cup of noise. That said, their cover of J. J. Cale's "Magnolia" achieves a high degree of lounge soulfulness, and sits just right with me.

Little Devil Little Devil
You'll think I'm making this up: a mini-musical in which an airplane flies over a town that only exists for one week a year and we eavesdrop on its inhabitants--who seem to consist of WC Fields, Mortimer Snerd, two dozen off-key children and about a thousand kazoos--as they sing about how "we really ought to try and save the ground." It is, you will probably not be shocked to learn, agonizingly bad. I'm not even sure what to make of a 25-minute long album that devotes one-seventh of its running time to kids sing-screaming "Melvin Koogler! Melvin Koogler!" over and over again. Nor can I figure out who it was intended for (stoned Wonderama fans?) or why a major label, even a major label as hopeless as MGM in 1972, would have bothered to release it. The degree to which this evokes Komar & Melamid's "The Most Unwanted Song" is uncanny.

I was reading this and recognized the writing as your very recognizable voice! I’m looking up to see what a sealed copy would be worth. Apparently nothing! Cheers! David Lewis from fb land!
