July, 1927 - December, 1928. Carefree Freewheeling Rollicking Organic Playful Cheerful Happy. The Clarence Williams Orchestra, Vol. 2 (1927-1928). This Biograph LP from 1972 has some exciting performances from the small groups led by pianist Clarence Williams during 1927-28; all of the music has since been reissued on CD by Classics. While the first four tracks feature cornetist Ed Allen in a sextet, with clarinetist Buster Bailey and tenorman Coleman Hawkins on two numbers, the final 12 numbers also include King Oliver as second cornetist and tenor saxophonist Benny Waters.
