Waterloo is the second studio album by the Swedish pop group ABBA, and the first released internationally. It was originally released in Sweden on 4 March 1974 through Polar Music. The album's title track won ABBA the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest and became a global hit, launching the group's career. Recording sessions for Waterloo began on 24 September 1973 with the track "Dance (While the Music Still Goes On)".

Released on 4 March 1974, the Waterloo album had already been out in ABBA’s homeland for a month before the competition. A more rounded release than Ring Ring, Waterloo contains a surprising sense of different styles: ‘King Kong Song’ could easily have been recorded by Suzi Quatro; ‘Gonna Sing You My Love Song’ might pass as a Carole King composition; and ‘What About Livingstone’ would have felt at home on a Kinks album

Abba Waterloo - The ABBA Remasters UK CD album. Originally issued under the rather unwieldy group title Björn, Benny, Agnetha & Frida, Waterloo contains the first glimmers of Abba's future ly in the buoyant, joyous title track. The irresistible "Waterloo" walked away with 1973's Eurovision Song Contest.

This album is rather unusual in the group's output, however, for the fact that the guys are still featured fairly prominently in some of the vocals, and for the variety of sounds - including reggae, folk-rock, and hard rock - embraced by its songs. The reggae number "Sitting in the Palmtree" is quite remarkable to hear, with its perfect Caribbean beat and those radiant female voices carrying the chorus behind the beat.
