The Album is the fifth studio album by the Swedish pop group ABBA. The album was released in conjunction with ABBA: The Movie, with several of the songs featured in the film. Altogether the album contained nine songs.

ABBA are considered one of the biggest pop bands of all time and one of the biggest dance bands as well. This ABBA discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top ABBA albums can be found at the top of the list. To make it easy for you, we haven't included ABBA singles, EPs, solo projects by its members, or compilations, so everything you see here should only be studio albums.

ABBA’s third album was the bridge that carried the group from Eurovision one-hit-wonders to a vital force in pop. In this feature we explore the journey that ended with worldwide smash hits such as ‘SOS’ and ‘Mamma Mia’. Benny also oversaw the recording of Frida’s second solo album, Frida ensam ( Frida Alone ), sessions for which would continue until the end of 1975. Agnetha, meanwhile, started sessions for her fifth album, Elva kvinnor i ett hus ( Eleven Women In One House ), which also wouldn’t be released until late 1975. Also, the ABBA members had to find some time for relaxation in the midst of all this behind-the-scenes acitivity.

Abba's The Albums collects all eight of the group's studio albums, as well as an additional disc of non-album singles and stray random tracks. Abba was of course one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, and they remain well-known and well-liked for their numerous hit singles. But they have a lot of depth and variety in their album tracks, too. From post-60s folk rock to disco to 80s new wave, they explore numerous styles, always with their distinctive production and meticulous attention to detail.

The album includes three songs from ABBA’s 1977 tour mini-musical The Girl with the Golden Hair. These songs are Thank You for the Music, I Wonder (Departure) and I’m a Marionette. Altogether the album contained just nine songs-the least of any ABBA album, but were longer in length than previous albums (opening track Eagle runs to nearly six minutes). The Album reached No. 1 in many territories. In the UK it debuted at the top and remained there for seven weeks, ending up as the third biggest selling album of the year (behind the movie soundtrack LPs of Saturday Night Fever and Grease)

ABBA's fifth album was a marked step forward for the group, having evolved out of Europop music into a world-class rock act over their previous two albums, they now proceeded to absorb and assimilate some of the influences around them, particularly the laid-back California sound of Fleetwood Mac (curiously, like ABBA, then a band with two couples at its center. The whole album is like that, effortlessly straddling hard rock, pop/rock, dance-rock, and progressive rock - though the hits tend to stand out in highest relief, there are superb album tracks here, including the driving, lushly harmonized "Move On" and "Hole in Your Soul," which provides guitarist Lasse Wellander with a beautiful showcase for his lead electric playing.
