Andrew Hill's Judgment is easily one of his masterpieces. Like the long-deleted Andrew!!! (finally being released on CD in October '05), its disappearance from Blue Note's CD catalogue in the early '90s was the source of considerable bewilderment for Hill's devotees. Andrew Hill's "Point of Departure" is an undisputed modern jazz masterpiece, but in the last twenty years, the average fan would have been hard pressed to locate a second Blue Note album by the pianist.

Change is a studio album by American jazz pianist Andrew Hill featuring performances recorded and scheduled for release in 1966 on the Blue Note label. The album was originally scheduled for issue in 1967 as BST 84233, but was held back from release until 1975, when the tracks appeared under Sam Rivers' name, as part of the double LP set Involution, which combined them with tracks recorded under Rivers' leadership which would eventually see release as Dimensions & Extensions.

In September 1963, Alfred Lion, the young pianist Andrew Hill was launched when he accompanied on his album Joe Henderson Our Thing; Hill was considered a unique and prolific composer, his music was so far free, as they did not follow the traditional jazz structures, but had their own sophisticated internal logic. Few could play the music; but fortunately succeeded Lion to bring together the pianist with the people who understood the music. The recorded in January 1964 Judgment! was 10 weeks before Andrew Hills classic Point of Departure, which was recorded in March with Kenny Dorham, Eric Dolphy and Joe Henderson. Since his debut, the more conventional Blackfire his compositions were released from conventional structures. Hill modified the existing structures of the hard bop and integrated harmonic and rhythmic elements of modal jazz and the avant-garde jazz.
