Styx is the self-titled debut album by American rock band Styx. It was released in 1972. The band started as a cover band who played events such as weddings and birthday parties. They called themselves "The Tradewinds" in 1961, when the band was composed of, at 12 years of age, Chuck and John Panozzo, who played bass guitar and drums, respectively, and their neighbor, 14-year-old Dennis DeYoung on keyboards, accordion and vocals.

The album encompasses many of the band's most popular and significant songs, ranging from the band's first single from their self-titled album, "Best Thing," through the song "One with Everything," a track included on Styx's most recent album at the time of release, Cyclorama. The album also marked the final appearance of original Styx guitarist John Curulewski who left the band to spend time with his family, abruptly following the release of Equinox. Soon after, they found Tommy Shaw. Although Equinox stalled at it went Gold in 1977 shortly before the release of The Grand Illusion (1977) and it sold 350,000 copies when it was first released.
