Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto Domo (domo), domo (domo) Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto (Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto) Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto) For doing the jobs that nobody wants to (Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto). The 1983 multi message hit, combining Japanese (the land of robots ) and English, topping at No. 3 in the charts. From their third concept album – Killroy was Here, this one about the increasing risk they saw in evolving technologies, censorship and loss of privacy, fighting against Music Morality, a thinly veiled allusion to Moral Majority founder Rev. Jerry Fallwell, whose prominence in the early 80s inspired the writer.
Styx' 1983 tour was a stage production based on the album. The Kilroy film was shown at the beginning of every show. The film ends in a scene where DeYoung's character takes off his robot helmet and reveals himself to Tommy Shaw's character, as which point they continued the scene live on stage, with the song "Mr. Roboto" playing, rock opera style. DeYoung and Shaw engaged in some dialog midway through the song, pushing forward a storyline where the masses have risen up in this very Styx concert. Following their 1983 tour, the band refused to perform "Mr Roboto" live for 35 years. Styx eventually decided to include the song in their set for their 2018 tour because even though they don't like it, the fans wanted to hear it. More songs from Styx.

Young said Mr. Roboto had hurt Styx financially, but talked positively about former singer Dennis DeYoung's work in January 2019. Styx guitarist James . Young admitted he’d never liked the band’s softer material, championed by former singer Dennis DeYoung – but reflected that the pair had been a formidable creative force when they were at their best. The band recently began playing the 1983 single Mr. Roboto live after decades of resistance, and after years of DeYoung predicting they’d do it eventually. The song contributed to the band’s split and a series of lineup changes after they returned.
