Patrick Doyle composed the soundtrack for the 2011 movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Doyle is a regular collaborator on Kenneth Branagh's films, including Henry V (1989), Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994) and Thor (2011), and other notable scores he has composed include Carlito's Way (1993), Donnie Brasco (1997), Bridget Jones' Diary (2001) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a 2011 American science fiction film directed by Rupert Wyatt and starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo, and Andy Serkis. Written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, it is 20th Century Fox's reboot of the Planet of the Apes series, intended to act as an origin story for a new series of films.

Following the events in "Beneath the Planet of the Apes", Cornelius and Zira flee back through time to 20th Century Los Angeles, where they face fear and persecution similar to what Taylor and Brent suffered in the future, and discover the origins of the stream of events that will shape their world. The apes learn that there are other apes outside of their tribe who are evolving and changing. The film is not just about the war between the humans and the apes, but the conflict inside Caesar. The apes have found a promised land where they feel they can start over. Caesar decides he is no longer fit to lead the apes and goes on a dark journey to try to get revenge and find his humanity. War for the Planet of the Apes is more of a road trip story, and we’re on a journey through the western part of the United States. The Apes Will Be a Larger Focus of This Movie. The younger apes speak more but the older apes have evolved very little. The apes in War for the Planet of the Apes walk slightly more upright, in an evolution comparable to that change from Rise to Dawn. An Epic Western Shot on 65mm Film. Producer Dylan Clark described the film as a western and Caesar is Clint Eastwood.
