Sterntaler is the second studio album by the German solo artist Michael Rother. It was released in 1978 and includes the single "Sterntaler" b/w "Sonnenrad". The album was recorded between September and November 1977 in Germany at Rother's own studio in Forst and Conny's Studio. The album was reissued on CD in 1993 with bonus tracks and having been remastered

In 1976, Michael Rother recorded his first album in solo "Flammende Herzen" with Jackie Liebezeit (CAN) on drums. It was produced by the famous sound engineer Conny Plank. His second album "Sterntaler" (1977) follows the main ideas, constantly using simplistic and efficient motifs. In 1980, Michael Rother obtained his own musical studio. The fifth solo album "Lust" will be produced by Rother himself. With continuous ideas he put the stress on new materials and technology.
