With these twelve hushed songs, songwriter Michael Head has crafted the most relaxed album of his career. Song titles like the Lilac Time-esque "The Girl with the Long Brown Hair" and "Byrds Turn to Stone," which declares an obvious musical influence, are every bit indicative of the lilting, graceful songs they name. Head's tunes haven't felt this soft and bouncy since he fronted the the Pale Fountains, but that doesn't mean the album ever feels dull.

Shack: Here’s Tom with the Weather. August 10 2003, 1:00am, The Sunday Times. AS THE Pale Fountains, Mick and John Head followed the classic indie route: a mega major-label deal was the carrot; two commercially lacklustre albums later, the stick arrived as the band were dropped. Relaunched as Shack, the Heads saw their studio burn down. They then managed yet another incarnation, as the Strands (are you keeping up?).

Shack's first album Zilch was released in 1988, but was neither critically nor commercially successful. The album was later re-released on the Red Flag Recording Company label with three extra tracks in 2007. The follow-up, Waterpistol, was recorded in 1991 at London's Star Street Studio and Chapel Studios, Lincolnshire. Shortly after the recording of Waterpistol was complete, the Star Street studio burnt down and most of the tapes were destroyed. The only remaining DAT of the album was in the possession of producer Chris Allison. Here's Tom With the Weather (2003). Wilkinson rejoined in 2005, replacing the departed Rigby. The band signed to Noel Gallagher's 'Sour Mash' record label. In May 2006 they released the album. The Corner of Miles and Gil, which is named after two of the Head brothers' heroes, Miles Davis and Gil Evans.
