An oil lamp on our breakfast table, Had a globe all smoky and black, So even when the wick burned bright, Much light by the globe was held back. Another lamp on the dinner table, With its wick in the oil not deep, Whenever it was turned up to shine, It could not its brightness keep. Yet if dirty our globe or shallow our wick, Our light can’t be seen very far. O’ let your light before men daily shine. That is Jesus’ great plan for our lives. But a clean globe and a wick in the oil, Is a must where God’s light truly thrives.

The album was produced by Malcolm Burn and according to Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, it had a loose, raw style with almost a low-key sound. An oil lamp is an object used to produce light continuously for a period of time using an oil-based fuel source. The use of oil lamps began thousands of years ago and continues to this day, although not commonly anymore. Oil lamps are a form of lighting, and were used as an alternative to candles before the use of electric lights. Starting in 1780, the Argand lamp quickly replaced other oil lamps still in their basic ancient form. These in turn were replaced by the kerosene lamp in about 1850
