Oh How Schmee Loves DSP is an enormously complex piece of layered electronic textures, combined with a hip hop vocal performance from Andy Arsenal. The truly inspired airy flow of Blix2 consists of spacious sub-worthy beats fused with haunted layers of corked voices and splashes of electric shocks. Further along, McGlothin takes his sound to other territories, such as blues on It’s Lonely in the Streets. Stripped keys and fender twinkles with the slightest hiss of record crackle accompany the vocal in this waltz.

Nautilis enters cut-and-paste IDM with ARE YOU AN AXOLOTL, bringing chopped up vocals to nice melodic effect on "Mofpex" and the short-but-sweet "Mend" blends a tough beat with tinkling electronics - reminiscent of Bola's work. Polyphonix Tronix Scapegoat" indeed, sounds like Bola's more hip-hop oriented work, though Nautilis keeps his tracks simpler, even if the lyrics are a bit silly. But the Asian-style melodies on the instrumental "Ruffion" help make up for lyrical weakness elsewhere. I need to get another copy of this album, I mislaid the first one, to refresh my memory, but the combination of breaks and weird samples along with sweeping strings and heart tweaking melodies make this one of my most memorable albums of the last 5 years.
