Juan José Bárcenas, born in 1982, studied Composition at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City and has worked as a freelance composer, video artist and sound designer since 2001. The main focus of his work falls on electronic and multi-media concepts. He has received grants and awards from the FONCA programme and the Seoul Computer Music Festival. He is a member of the experimental electronic ensemble Colectivo Kaoss and has taught computer music in Santiago de Querétaro since 2005. Variations: Viewing All Juan José Barcenas.

Gabriela Ortiz, born in 1964, studied first in Mexico and later in London, where she took a doctorate in electronic music at the City University. Today she lives in the United States while serving as professor of composition in Mexico City. Gabriela Ortiz is one of Mexico’s most internationally famous composers, blending influences from the Western avant-guard with elements from Mexican folk music, jazz and improvisation. Her stage works deal at times with severe problems in Mexico’s society, such as poverty, drugs and violence. Aleyda Moreno, born in 1982, studied Composition, Piano and Electronic Music in Mexico City, receiving a FONCA scholarship in 2006. She works in the improvisational group Noiztrik and collaborates with film makers and choreographers. The common element in her wide-ranging artistic activities is her view that music is the sensory experience of sound, metamorphosis and mysticism.

ensemble Integrales- neue Kammermusik - zeitgenoessische Musik- undogmatisch, vielfaeltig, phantasievoll, virtuos und kommunikativ. Moreno's Night Music, the most pleasing piece of the bunch, is a percussion-heavy nocturne in which the electronics flow naturally as part of the musical texture. This is also true of the completely abstract Intersecciones of Alejandro Castaños; the electronic component supposedly "shrewdly analyzes, dissects, and penetrates" the viola part in Arturo Fuentes' Lawine (2009), but this is harder to hear. All the music is new; Ortiz's Trifolium, composed in 2005, is the classic reference point.
