The album gained Grim Reaper a reputation in America, while it wasn’t so well received Europe. The album was praised for Nick Bowcott’s guitar riffs and Steve Grimmett’s vocals. Having eight tracks, Grim Reaper seems to fire on all cylinders for some, and simply drop out early on others. An example of the ladder is, sadly, the title track. While having a catchy riff, the chorus is constantly repeated throughout the entire. The track practically embodies the garbage pop music of today, simply repeating SEE YOU IN HELL! at every opportunity. Overall, See You in Hell is worth a listen, at least once. While half of the albums production is so awful I wish for a remaster just to stabilize all the tracks, there is still some good to find in those songs. The riffs are still there, even if they won’t pull you in nearly as often as the other four.

Grim Reaper's classic See You in Hell represents the very best of the "2nd" British invasion. In the mid to late 70's the original "heavy metal" acts were declining and punk music's influence was spreading through the rock scene. Dropped in July of 1984 See You in Hell has every single classic aspect a fan of metal can ask for. From the bad assed album cover to the music therein everything is picture perfect. If you have never given them a chance this is the best place to start. The bands somewhat stout front man has a set of pipes that would make the devil take notice. He shines through this whole release.

Grim Reaper is a British heavy metal band from the NWOBHM style and era. The band was formed in 1979 in Droitwich, England, by Nick Bowcott. They were signed to Darryl Johnston's Ebony Records and their debut was "See You in Hell". Grim Reaper is a British heavy metal band from the NWOBHM style and era.

Grim Reaper became the unlikeliest of over-achievers when their modest, independently released first album, See You in Hell, was unexpectedly picked up by RCA Records for worldwide distribution and proceeded to climb up the American charts. The irony of this is that the band had been kicking around the . scene for years, taking part in, but never really taking off with, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal earlier in the decade. So, when they were finally handed a record deal by tiny start-up Ebony Records, few could have predicted that bigger things lay just around the corner, least of all.
