The Rolling Stones is the debut album by the Rolling Stones, released by Decca Records in the UK on 16 April 1964. The album is included in Robert Dimery's 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
The Rolling Stones wanted to release a new album in the summer of 1981 that could get them back on the road, but they had little interest in going through the excruciating process of writing and recording yet again. The wise decision was made to create Tattoo You by simply digging through the vaults and cherry-picking the best outtakes from their 1970s albums. They found "Waiting on a Friend" from the Goats Head Soup sessions in 1972, but it needed a lyric and a bit of overdubbing. One Hit (to the Body). Jimmy Page had just wrapped up a shambolic reunion set with Led Zeppelin at Live Aid when he stopped by the studio to visit the Rolling Stones as they worked on their ill-fated 1986 LP Dirty Work.
The '80s were not kind to many of the old guard. Accordingly, 'Dirty Work' is not exactly the Rolling Stones' finest hour. Aside from their cover of 'Harlem Shuffle,' 'One Hit To The Body' is all the record is remembered for. Even then, it's a classic case of a good song getting trapped under the era's high-gloss production style. Still, you can hear the band trying to make it happen. Had this song been recorded five years earlier, it would be a very different animal, but.

The best moments on Dirty Work come when the atmosphere of intra-band animosity in which it was recorded is channelled into the music: One Hit (to the Body) and Winning Ugly fizz with nasty energy. Elsewhere, it’s lifeless, and the period production on Back to Zero has dated abysmally. 11. Rolling Stones No 2 (1965). The early 60s blues scene was a purists’ movement, but their second album demonstrates how eclectic and boundary-blurring the early Stones were, boldly defining a space of their own somewhere between blues, rock’n’roll and soul, amping up the pace and the attitude of each to thrilling effect. 10. Blue & Lonesome (2016). At the point where even the most committed fan despaired of them ever making an unequivocally great album again, they did.
The Stones went on to chart an additional seven No. 1s, including "Honky Tonk Women," which rules our exclusive recap of Jagger's biggest Hot 100 hits below. Jagger first entered the Hot 100 as a solo artist with his feature on reggae singer Peter Tosh's "(You Got to Walk And) Don't Look Back," which reached No. 81 in November 1978. in 1986, ‘One Hit (To the Body)’ was released on The Rolling Stones’ Dirty Work album. iewood had got in touch with me while I was staying at the Plaza Hotel in New York and invited me to come to the studio and lay down some guitar on a track of cialkeef. I was really up for this idea as I had done some studio work before on a track playing with Keith at Ronnie’s studio at The Wick in Richmond, England. ⠀ Actually, the session was not for Keith’s album, it was for ollingstones, and I overdubbed a number of solos over the track. I think it worked out pretty good.
