Mozart wrote the first three songs on disc 1 in a single day, 14th January 1791. They were published by his friend Ignaz Alberti in a Collection of songs for children and young friends. Sehnsucht nach der Frhlinge, KV 596 (Longing for Spring) attained the status of a folksong and so became perhaps the best-known of all Mozarts works. Its character is so childlike, serene and carefree and so perfect in its compositional structure.
