Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, "Talkin' New York" and "Song to Woody".

By 1989, many Bob Dylan fans were convinced that Dylan had completely lost his songwriting muse. His last two albums, Knocked Out Loaded and Down in the Groove, were arguably the two worst works of his career. In what seemed to be an ominous sign, most of the songs on those discs were either covers or tunes he wrote with others. Thankfully, Dylan realized he needed to completely rethink his career. The album ends with "Sara," an extremely moving tribute to Dylan's long-suffering wife. The album is also notable for the work of violinist Scarlet Rivera. It's hard to imagine what the album would sound like without her playing, yet she was only invited to the sessions when Dylan spotted her walking down the street with a violin case. He invited her into his car and the rest is history.

If the title to Miley Cyrus' Younger Now album - announced Tuesday (Aug 8) for the upcoming LP, due September 29 - sounds familiar, there might be a reason for that. The phrase "younger now" bears a strong echo of one of Bob Dylan's most famous choruses, for his 1964 Another Side of Bob Dylan track "My Back Pages" - also a 1967 Hot 100 top 40 hit for The Byrds. Ah, but I was so much older then/ I'm younger than that now," the purposefully paradoxical refrain goes. The reference would make sense for Cyrus, an avowed Dylan disciple.

At 75, Bob Dylan is turning black-and-white. The mysterious nature of his latest albums, their stark artwork and the lighting and composition of his most recent TV appearances possess many hallmarks of film noir classics, where things aren't always what they seem. These seem to resonate with Dylan because, though of a bygone era, their insights into human nature hold up. The time travel continues. Here, Dylan does some celestial rendering of Sinatra songs. This album is not a trifle; in some instances, these might well be newly definitive recordings of the songs. Fallen Angels is a hazy, laid-back history lesson with as many enigmatic twists and turns as a classic double-cross caper.

Greatest Bob Dylan Albums. The Top Ten. 1 Highway 61 Revisited. BOB & BOTT have some lessers songs but every song on this album has great singing and great lryics. plus, it has too of the best songs of all time, like a rolling stone and desulation row. - RecklessGreed. 2 Blood on the Tracks. This is absolutely stunning. I will never grow tired of this genius. It's not just the quality of the album, it's also so damn epic because his critics were starting to label him washed up and a has-been after a slow start to the 70s, then he comes out and produces this.
