Description

Mirage is one of Klaus Schulze's best albums. It is certainly among the eeriest e-music sets ever. Each piece has six separate movements with experimental sounds serving as the recurring themes. The album has cold and icy textures that take listeners to the brink of the winter solstice.

Mirage is one of Klaus Schulze's best albums. He created it as "an electronic winter landscape dedicated to Hans Dieter Schulze. It has somewhat of a symphonic structure. There are two main pieces: "Velvet Voyage" and "Crystal Lake. The experimental timbres give the set a sci-fi feel. This is vital space music.

There exist two pressings of this release. First pressing contains bad quality transfers of all tracks with lots of glitches and very low sound volume. The second pressing corrects most of glitches in tracks 1 and 2, although track 3 still contains them (but this may be due to the source tapes themselves which are apologised for in the booklet. 51523360/304032-1 21 matrix is for one of the second pressing 'corrected' variants)

Obviously Nigel Molden has the master tapes. Although, it beggar's belief as to why they didn't use the original Thunderbolt CD issue as a master, as that sounds wonderful? I couldn't believe it when I got the first pressing of Mirage on Revisited Rec. - all those glitches and drop-outs. Apparently no one thought to check!
