Susie Ibarra is a composer and percussionist. She creates live and immersive music that explores rhythm, indigenous practices and interaction with cities and the natural world. Ibarra is a Yamaha, Paiste and Vic Firth Drum Artist. She is a 2014 TEDSenior Fellow. Ibarra is premiering an album recorded with DreamTime Ensemble on Decibel Collective in Fall 2017. Titled Perception, it is a collection of pieces around the idea of finding unfixed meaning in sensory experiences and interaction in ones environment.

He usually works well in duos with drummers or percussionists, since he often plays the guitar like a drum. Here his partner is Susie Ibarra who plays a full kit with a lot of shuffling and banging, and also accentuates the atmosphere of menace with soft cymbal rides and rumbles. On "Day Without End" he lets her chatter while adding his trademark weird harmonics that sound like he's playing backwards, then adds some more scrabbling and backwards feedback. Bailey has grasped the essence of the guitar and pursued it obsessively for thirty years: its a nasty, noise-making machine.

Susie Ibarra, percussionist and composer lives in New York City. She received a music diploma from Mannes College of Music and . from Goddard College. Susie Ibarra studied Kulintang with Danongan Kalanduyan and drum set with Buster Smith, Vernel Fournier and Milford Graves. As a percussionist, she has performed southeast Asian gong music, jazz, avant-garde, improvised and solo concert works. Susie Ibarra has taught across the . and attended. Artist Residencies including: The Walker Art Center, Mills College, Bard College, Swarthmore College, Fundacio Joan Miro, University of Michigan, Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, The New School. She was nominated Best Drummer in the Village Voice, Downbeat, Jazziz, The Wire. Susie Ibarra is a Yamaha, Paiste & Vic Firth Artist.

Ibarra and award-winning composer Roberto Juan Rodriguez, both of Electric Kulintang, are thrilled to present a tech launch of their anticipated Digital Sanctuaries, 12 musical compositions within a mobile app soundwalk for Lower Manhattan, NYC. On November 7th through 10th, Digital Sanctuaries will host walks during lunch hours in each of its 12 sites in Lower Manhattan where the public can listen to the app’s musical compositions, use its four channel mixer to remix the music, and post about their experience.
