Description

After misidentifying a body part on the Strokes’ Is This It, I realised I was the victim of the modern age where the LP sleeve has become irrelevant to most.

I do not own any of this songs. All rights goes to The Strokes and RCA Records. 1. Is This It - 0:00 2. The Modern Age - 2:33 3. Soma - 6:06 4. Barely Legal. Is This It. Авторы текста и музыки.

Is This It. The Strokes. Released July 30, 2001. Is This It Tracklist. Is This It Lyrics. Is This It (Ft. Colin Lane) Lyrics. There’s a reason why the title Is This It isn’t punctuated with a question mark– this LP was the answer. Without this record, Alex Turner would have delved into a deluge of Libertines worship, hipster couture would have regrettably been relegated to Kurt Cobain doppelgangers, and NME would have languished into bankruptcy after registering that they couldn’t only sell magazines that plastered Oasis on the cover.

Can't you see I'm trying? I don't even like it I just lied to get to your apartment Now I'm staying there just for a while I can't think, 'cause I'm just way too tired

Is This It is the debut album by the American alternative rock band The Strokes, released in 2001. The Strokes were the first band to break into the mainstream as part of the um garage rock revival trend. Hyped by the music press for their melodic pop-influenced garage rock sound on both sides of the Atlantic, The Strokes' auspicious debut garnered them critical and popular attention. And the album only came out last week! So why all the fanfare? Are they really that good? Of fucking course not. There is no bold new era in rock; the Rolling Stones have yet to be contended with; and if there ever is a second coming of the Velvet Underground, they won't be doing second-rate imitations of Lou Reed. The Strokes are not deities. Nor are they "brilliant," "awe-inspiring," or "genius. They're a rock band, plain and simple. See, while I can't agree with the Strokes' messianic treatment, I'd be lying if I said I thought Is This It was anything other than a great rock record.

The Strokes released their debut album, Is This It, in the US in October 2001. The album was produced by Gordon Raphael, as was their follow-up album Room On Fire. RCA delayed the North American (US) release over concerns with the album's cover and lyrics. The UK-released cover features a black-and-white photo of a gloved hand on a woman's naked backside, shown in semi-profile (photographer Colin Lane's then-girlfriend,) while the North American version replaced it with a photo of particle collisions in the Big European Bubble Chamber

Is This It’ is an album by a band that knows its strengths, knows its collective mind. It doesn’t sound like one songwriter and some other donkeys. The highest compliment you can pay this record is that it sounds like Strokes, sounds as good as that whole concept. It’s a New York story, a Los Angeles story, a London story. Anyone and everyone’s story.

The Strokes sound throughout Is This It" is like an updated 70's classic rock band. Though the production on Casablancas's voice is too distorted, unlike the slickly handled First Impressions Of Earth, Is This It" is arguably The Strokes best album, their Tour De Force if you will. With all the hype surrounding the band, it's amazing they almost lived up to it. So many bands have gone down that fiery path, like the Arctic Monkeys, and few have succeeded.

RTRADELP 030. Is This It ‎(LP, Album). RTRADELP 030. UK. 2001. Is This It ‎(CDr, Album, Promo). The story of the New York band The Strokes is best compare with the breakthrough of Oasis. The band around Liam and Noel Gallagher was about ten years ago a real sensation, while everyone could hear their music is anything but original was. Apparently there was at that time in England need yet another Beatles revival and Oasis was the right band in the right place. The music of The Strokes is also not original. You think at first to a poor absorption of Iggy Pop or The Velvet Underground.
