Though it's kinda all over the place, most of the songs here are quite good. Maybe the band is exploring new territory since this is the first album after their hiatus.

Angles is the fourth studio album by American rock band the Strokes. It was released on March 18, 2011 by RCA Records. It is the group's first album since First Impressions of Earth (2006), marking their longest gap to date between studio albums. After touring in support of First Impressions of Earth, the Strokes went on an extended hiatus in 2007 and then regrouped two years later to begin writing new material for a fourth album.

Produced by Guy Pouppez. Tracklist: 1. Machu Picchu 2. Under Cover Of Darkness 3. Two Kinds of Happiness 4. You're So Right 5. Taken For A Fool 6. Games 7. Call Me Back 8. Gratisfaction 9. Metabolism 10. Life Is Simple In the Moonlight. Album Art: More on Genius.

The album attempts to rebuild the band from the ground up. Whereas Casablancas had previously written nearly every part of the group's songs including guitar solos and basslines, he steps back on Angles, which features songs from other members. Casablancas called the new way "Operation Make Everyone Satisfied," which sounds condescending enough. Even better is "Taken For a Fool", which is the only track on Angles to really offer something refreshing while also sticking with That Strokes Sound. The song's verse is air-tight and bizarrely funky like some lost tape from David Bowie's Lodger, while the hook relieves the syncopation with to-the-point brashness.

The Strokes announce the release date for their highly anticipated fourth album, Angles, on March 22nd via RCA records in the US, and March 21st via Rough Trade Records in the UK. Angles is the band s first new release since 2006 s First Impressions of Earth and marks the ambition of that album with the immediacy of the band s earlier albums Is This It (2001) and Room On Fire (2003).

Pictures, videos, biodata, and files relating to Angles (The Strokes album) are also acceptable encyclopedic sources.

Angles is also the Strokes’ first true giant step forward from that record. They tighten the striving that was spread thin across First Impressions with proven martial jangle: Fraiture and Moretti’s stoic grip on the beat; robotic-Yardbirds crossfires of crispy-fuzz and brittle-treble guitars. Angles is the Strokes’ spin on that ambition.

Written-By, Arranged By – The Strokes. Engineered & recorded at One Way Studios & Electric Lady Studios except: "Under Cover Of Darkness", "Gratisfaction", "Life Is Simple In The Moonlight" & "Two Kinds Of Happiness" recorded at Avatar Studios, One Way Studios & Electric Lady Studios. Distributed by Sony Music Entertainment.

This distance allows Nick Valensi to be Angles' star, turning in witty responses to Casablancas' vocals and dazzling solos like the one that graces Two Kinds of Happiness ' mix of power pop and post-punk. But even if the Strokes don’t sound as passionate as they did before, they deliver a few quintessential moments. Under Cover of Darkness is an über-Strokes song, with tumbling verses that borrow Last Night 's melody and soaring, secretly earnest choruses; meanwhile, Machu Picchu 's reggae-fied strut harks back to Room on Fire.
