The Jesus and Mary Chain released Barbed Wire Kisses (B-Sides and More) in 1988, just five years into their existence. The album is an incredible collection of singles, outtakes and rare tracks that proved to fans outside of collectors' circles.

Just a few years into their official recording career, the Jesus and Mary Chain had enough B-sides, outtakes, and other things sitting around to warrant a collection of nearly all of them, thus Barbed Wire Kisses. A welcome inclusion is the original debut single on Creation, "Upside Down," which in terms of the mix alone makes Psychocandy sound like Boston.

Darklands is the second studio album by Scottish alternative rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain. It was released on 31 August 1987 by Blanco y Negro Records. Unlike their previous album, Psychocandy, drum machines were used in place of drummer Bobby Gillespie, who had left to pursue a career as the frontman with Primal Scream. Lead vocals are performed by Jim Reid, with the exception of "Darklands", "Nine Million Rainy Days" and "On the Wall", which are sung by William Reid.
