Diamond Head (Phil Manzanera album). Diamond Head is the first studio album by the rock artist Phil Manzanera. It was released in 1975, originally on Island Records in the UK (who was handling all . recordings) and in the US on Atco Records. The sound quality on the US album was deemed to be worse than the UK album, so the UK import became a popular seller in the speciality record shops who sold Roxy Music and other UK bands.

Diamond Head is the first studio album by the rock artist Phil Manzanera. Unlike other solo albums issued by an instrumental member of an existing band (Manzanera was Roxy Music's lead guitarist), Diamond Head featured a number of vocal songs performed by guest musicians.

Diamond Head is a music studio album recording by PHIL MANZANERA (Prog Related/Progressive Rock) released in 1975 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette.

Phil Manzanera (born Philip Geoffrey Targett-Adams, 31 January 1951) is an English musician and record producer. He was the lead guitarist with Roxy Music, 801, and Quiet Sun. In 2006 Manzanera co-produced David Gilmour's album On an Island and played in Gilmour's band for tours in Europe and North America. He wrote and presented a series of 14 one-hour radio programmes for station Planet Rock entitled The A-Z of Great Guitarists.

2007 sees Diamond Head complete a new studio album with engineer Dave 'Shirt' Nicholls. One of their strongest pieces of work to date, the album is due to be released later this year. In the meantime, the band have just embarked on an exciting European Tour that sees them taking the new material throughout the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Germany & Italy! 2016.

All the songs were written by Manzanera, either alone or in collaboration (with Wyatt, Eno, Wetton, and MacCormick).

Basically all of Roxy (sans Ferry) plus Robert Wyatt, Brian Eno, John Wetton and a sprinkling of odd-ball talent, could it be anything but a 'less than the sum of its parts" album? Yes! or No! I can't work it out but this album is a brilliant, positive, funny, expressive jaunt through many borrowed styles, not at all po-faced or stodgy. Take the first track, fake South American gibberish over an infectious structure (a precursor idea to 'I Zimbra' perhaps?) A mix of instrumental / vocal songs follow, all top drawer. A rocky companion to 'Before And After Science'.
