Live at la Paloma (1993). Live from the Time Coast (2004). It is the fourth album to be released from the archives of the late Randy California. Recorded between 1989 and 1996, with a line-up that features founding members Randy California and drummer Ed Cassidy with Mike Nile on bass. This incarnation of Spirit is referred to by Spirit's hard-core followers as "The Tent Of Miracles Band". Never released in any form previously and recorded in a number of venues from Manchester to Colorado and from London to Utah.

The ship looks big from the outside; it’s tall, as there are so many balconies (one for every cabin) but inside, it’s elegant and cosy at the same time. There are comfortable niches everywhere for sitting with a coffee and a book. None of the spaces feel cavernous. So far, we’ve eaten in Coast to Coast, the light and bright seafood restaurant, where we had seared tuna with a sesame crust, an excellent sole meuniere and a selection from what we still reckon is the best cheese trolley at sea. There’s also an Asian fusion restaurant, East to West, where we put away dim sum and a delicious prawn curry, and The Club by Jools, a steakhouse with live jazz in association with Jools Holland.

Spirit is unique in a number of ways, not the least of which was that they were charting hits while simultaneously exploring jazz, blues, folk, and vanguard classical music. The original quintet comprised guitarist Randy California, vocalist Jay Ferguson, keyboardist John Locke, bassist Mark Andes, and an older, accomplished, iconoclastic drummer, Ed Cassidy (California's stepfather), who had worked with Thelonious Monk and Cannonball Adderley, to name just two; he was also a founding member of the Rising Sons with Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal. and "Feeling in Time. There are three tracks from 1975's Son of Spirit album, which was essentially a California solo effort, and finally a one each from 1976's Farther Along and 1977's Future Games: A Magical-Kahauna Dream.

In the liner notes to the 1996 reissue of Spirit's debut album, Randy California wrote: People always ask me why "Stairway to Heaven" sounds exactly like "Taurus", which was released two years earlier Randy California, born Randy Wolfe, died in 1997.
