An unusual entry in baritonist Gerry Mulligan's discography, this LP (recorded in Italy during a two year stay) finds Mulligan teaming up with pianist Enrico Intra, the reeds of Giancarlo Barigozzi and an Italian rhythm section to play four new compositions, one of his and the other three by Intra. Jeru (who also plays some soprano in addition to his customary baritone) sounds quite creative stretching out on these obscure but rewarding originals.
