The album, made in a truly Ellingtonian mould, begins with a somnolent reading of Billy Strayhorn’s Chelsea Bridge. Jimmy Rowles is on piano, keeping a very respectful middle distance, while Leroy Vinegar’s bass is the merest patter of tiny feet.
