Enoch Light's work has been sampled by many bands such as "electronica" band The Weird Love Makers. Light's rendition of "Autumn Leaves" was sampled by RJD2 for the song "A Beautiful Mine," which is the theme for the AMC drama Mad Men. I first came upon Enoch Light and the Light Brigade in the 1970s. I was an aspiring musician and had developed a taste for big band music but was not happy with the low quality of the original recordings. This album brought some of those sounds to me in a clearer way. These were not remastered originals, but many of the musicians had played with one or more of the big bands, and they were all very good. For those who are interested in getting this album, I'll say here that most of the lead trumpet solos are performed by Marvin Stamm. Other trumpet solos include Mel Davis ("Sing, Sing, Sing, Part 2") and Bernie Glow ("Four Brothers").
