It’s My Life is the title track to Talk Talk’s sophomore album. It became their only top 40 hit in the US and reached in the UK. The song is about a man in a relationship with a woman who is seeing someone else, and seems to be both wilfully ignorant yet all too conscious of it. It was accompanied by an iconic music video showing varieties of animals, spliced together from various nature documentaries as a protest against lip-syncing commonly used in hit music videos. Another music video was made at the request of EMI, ironically being the entire first video on a green screen behind the.

Album · 1984 · 9 Songs. Knowing what we know now about the career of Mark Hollis and Talk Talk, it’s much easier to hear the strengths of their second album, It’s My Life, and how it relates to the band Talk Talk would become. The addition of umentalist Tim Friese-Greene provided the group with an entirely new weapon

After an unremarkable debut, Talk Talk regrouped and refashioned themselves more in the style of sophisto-era Roxy Music while developing their own voice.

It’s My Life is a new wave song written by Mark Hollis and Tim Friese-Greene for Talk Talk’s second studio album, also entitled It's My Life, released in 1984. The song was released as a single in 1984, then re-released in 1985 and 1990. The 1990 reissue, to promote the Natural History: The Very Best of Talk Talk compilation, finally made the song a UK hit, reaching number 13 - the band's highest singles chart placing.

I find it strange that the b-side "Call in the night boy" has been included on the album. It sounds like b-side does: cheap and cheerful, thrown together in five minutes. While the single A-side, the majestic "My Foolish Friend" with its epic memorable piano riff got left out?

This song does not sound like it was written in five minutes. Having written a song in five minutes with a crappy garage band, I can assure you of that. It's a great song that fits perfectly within the flow of side two and even features a bizarre almost Oscar Petersonesque piano line. Not a duff track at all.

Could be because the original keyboard player co wrote it and was no longer a member when the album was made
