Contrary to popular belief, there were line-up changes from 1977 to 1982. As Steve Sylvester stated on an interview for trumetal. It all came from my haste to quickly establish the names of the musicians that were part of the band, in a sort of magical pact. This line-up recorded the demo The Horned God of the Witches (1981), unreleased as such for the general public (only two copies exist) but contained in The Story of Death SS compilation LP (1987).

Complete your Death SS collection. Also, the sound doesn't look remastered to me (it is not very good in the first tracks) but it could be an impression. I thought the remaster had to have a very improved sound in the first tracks. Yet it IS this version. Does anyone have this issue? Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.

Death SS were likely the very first Italian metal band, formed way back in 1977 and playing a style of gritty rock n roll/heavy metal influenced by occult-themed prog rockers like Goblin and Black Widow. Their original lineup included vocalist Steve Sylvester (his initials being the reason for the SS) and t/vocalist Paul Chain. Between 1977 and 1984 they released two demos, three singles and an EP titled "Evil Metal"
