Description

The Bootleg Series, Vol. 5 - Bob Dylan Live 1975: The Rolling Thunder Revue - Bob Dylan. Открывайте новую музыку каждый день.

Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue tour of 1975-76 is a paradox in the well-stuffed annals of his concert career: It is at once his best-documented and most elusive trek.

Bob Dylan – The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings is a box set of 1975 live recordings by Bob Dylan, released on June 7, 2019. For this tour, Dylan assembled a loose collective of a backing band called Guam and played across North America for several dozen shows. To tie-in with its release the Netflix documentary film, Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese, was released the following week

The Rolling Thunder Revue era in Bob Dylan's career maintains a central place apparently. The 14-disc Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings is the third release in his catalogue to document it. The first was Hard Rain, for a 1978 television special. 2002's double-disc Bootleg Volume 5 compiled selected performances from the first leg of the tour. This box offers five complete Dylan concerts from 1975: four from Massachusetts, one from Montreal, three discs of rehearsals, and a disc of rarities. 119 of 148 tracks were previously unreleased

Written by Dylan in July, 1975 with his collaborator at the time, theater director Jacques Levy, and recorded that month for the singer’s next album, Desire, Isis was a parable of separation and reunion greased with autobiography: the tensions and flux of Dylan’s failing marriage. Strangely, in a Rolling Thunder rehearsal on October 19th, on the first disc here, Dylan plays the song like he is still composing it - on a saloon piano in jumpy-waltz time, ringed with guitar pickers. This boxed set takes you as far as we may ever get into the rare alchemy of purpose and accident that Dylan conjured with the Rolling Thunder Revue.

Songs start at NIS . 0. It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry (Live at The Night of the Hurricane, Madison Square Garden, New York, NY, December 1975). 148 Songs, 10 Hours 32 Minutes. Released: 7 Jun 2019. 2019 Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.

Other people remember a lot about Rolling Thunder, though. Since the waning months of 1975-when Dylan roamed New England with a ragged band of musicians, playing small venues at the drop of a hat-the revue has been the thing of legend among Dylan conoscenti. Much of its mystique lies in the way the superior first incarnation of the tour only lasted about as long as a torrid summer squall. Certainly, The Bootleg Series, Vol. 5 is easier to digest than The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings, a 14-CD box released to accompany the Scorsese film. Containing Dylan’s sets from the five professionally recorded Rolling Thunder concerts, along with three discs of rehearsals and a disc of oddities taken from the tour, the box assumes a high level of interest from the listener: A set that runs for ten and a half hours is not for dabblers.

A comprehensive anthology of music from the mythic first leg of Bob Dylan's groundbreaking Rolling Thunder Revue, this 14CD box set includes all five of Dylan’s full sets from that tour that were professionally recorded. The collection also provides the listener with an intimate insider's seat for recently unearthed rehearsals at New York's . studios and the Seacrest Mote in Falmouth, MA plus a bonus disc showcasing one-of-a-kind performances from the tour

This is a superb pressing from MPO. Low noise floor, almost spotlessly clean sound and excellent fidelity and sonics. My discs are flat and look clean, which isn't always the case with MPO pressings. The box set slipcase is nice and heavyweight, whilst the book included is also really high quality and a great read. Thoroughly recommended.

I agree with Musicfreak98. This pressing is superb - its a real surprise and sets a new standard for issues like this as far as I'm concerned - lets hope MPO can maintain it.

Every disc on my copy is severely warped and looks filthy. Anyone else? Hoping a replacement will at least fix the warps.

For me, all three records were dirty but cleaned up pretty well. The vinyl is slightly warped, but I probably would have missed it if I hadn’t seen your comment. Sounds pretty good so far.

With warps, especially in the summer, I would tend to blame the retailer's warehouse and carrier before I'd blame the pressing plant. I would suspect that someone left your records in some hot warehouse piled on their side and your replacement was another off the same damaged pile.

Got the replacement today... same issues. All three discs are warped (not as badly, but still significant), whooshing floor noise, etc. Packaging is super nice, but doesn't make up for poor vinyl QC. This is happening way too often these days. I'm giving up on this one.

Send it back. Mine aren't warped either- dead flat actually. Mine weren't really dirty but had the light scratches/scuffs indicative of recent non-audiophile pressings. That's really my only complaint and it doesn't seem to affect the music. I've only played the first record so far, but it sounded great!

I don't have either of those problems with my copy but I have noticed that MPO (who pressed this release) have had issues with dirty surfaces on their recent pressings, so it's not too surprisingly unfortunately.

My copy has no download card? Anyone else found this?

I think they must have cancelled it, yeah. The issue is so widespread that I can only assume no copies at all came with a download code.

Yes, none with mine either! Was it cancelled before they shipped?
Micelhorav Micelhorav
Same. I also thought it might have been tucked into the booklet, or inside one of the sleeves, but nope. Maybe they pulled it from the set at the last minute. Oh well, I still have the CD, so I don’t mind all that much.

Me too, no download card on this European pressing. I did ask Amazon whether they would approach the manufacturer for a new download card. Their response was to offer complete replacement (which I didn’t go for as the pressing is just so good) and I told them that. Instead they sent a partial refund, somewhat unwarranted. So, still without the download card I tried without success to get a response from Sony Legacy - zilch, so far.

Same here. Obviously, something has gone wrong somewhere. I thought it might be in the booklet, but it seems not...

So annoying on an otherwise superb pressing and package-I actually don't mind not having the download but having the actual physical card/sheet missing from the package is very irritating.

No download code for me either. Seems like a widespread problem.
spark spark
Just searched through mine and no, no download card to be found.

At long last this is being reissued on vinyl and in an expanded 14 CD deluxe boxset!

Time for a vinyl repress of this Boxset! A major want of mine but not for $300+ Could someone please pass this request message along to Sony Music Entertainment, Columbia Legacy, or directly to Bob’s people? Make it ASAP! This is important stuff, folks! While we’re at it, the “Live 1964 (Concert At Philharmonic Hall)” set and the “No Direction Home” soundtrack could use a vinyl repress as well. Thank you & Namaste.

Your wish has been granted. Repress is coming very soon
