Elvis Presley re-established himself as The King of Rock and Roll with ELVIS, the widely-seen comeback special broadcast on NBC at the end of 1968. The show’s many highlights included laid-back live performances recorded in the round before a small audience and featuring a powerful ensemble-including guitarist Scotty Moore and drummer . Fontana, both part of Elvis’ original, classic backing band

It contains songs written and recorded expressly for the 1958 film of the same name starring Presley, and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart. It followed the film's release by over ten weeks. It was certified Gold on July 15, 1999 by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Glen Campbell recorded an 18-track album intended only for Elvis Presley's ears back from 1964 to 1968. The songs, written by the King of Rock & Roll's longtime songwriters Ben Weisman and Sid Wayne, were discovered by Executive Producer Stephen Auerbach who found the recordings on long-forgotten reel-to-reel tapes in Weisman's storage space

This is a 180g RCA/Sony release under the We Are Vinyl marketing (black vinyl). - Cool record, this is the vinyl edition of the two 'sit-down' acoustic sessions recorded at Burbank studios for the famous Elvis Comeback Special '68. Not an audiophile item, but very good feeling from start to finish, Elvis was very natural and warming up as each show progresses, and in parts the show really rocks, if he had rehearsed a little more this would probably have been one of the best unplugged rock shows ever. - The first side was present on the broadcast edit of the show (available on DVD), but there are also many parts which were new to me (I am a casual Elvis fan, but for the real fans all tracks were published in various editions over the years). All in all I would say this is a great document and a lot of fun to listen to, some very cool parts, some parts great, although there are also some weaker parts (which were left out, for good reasons) so overall the record feels a bit of a mixed bag, something between an 'Elvis Unplugged' and a bootleg rehearsal record, with good (not great, but good) sound quality. So for the casual Elvis fan, it's probably worth checking a CD edition for the content before buying this LP, although the price, for an Elvis record, is quite reasonable. There is also a red vinyl edition, which may be more 'collectible' than this one.I hope this helps.
