Note update:#Both the A (vocal) and the B (MFSB instrumental) have had a Philly Int. release via Passion music and pressed at Sony UK (the CBS Aston Clinton factory where this would have come from had it had a UK 12" release all those years ago) before they closed it down and Sony commercial pressings went to Artone/CBS Holland which they also owned.Released over 2 seperate 12" releases and great for the UK collectionO Jays My Favourite Person, Archie Bell Love Won't Get You Down, and Dexter W. Life On Mars all had the same UK green Philly label 12" releases via Passion Music they just look so right (once you colour out the bar codes) and just complete your PIR's and at a very affordable price:NBThe O' Jays was a retro release as a result of Tony Blackburn BBC Radio London and BBC Radio London "Soul Night outs" constant plays, it was released on CBS' Epic label (12" and 7")Archie Bell came out UK wise on CBS dance imprint Portrait (12" and 7")Philly All Stars came out UK retro wise on Morgan Khan's Streewise label as a 12" (just looks so bad and wrong)so to have just these three on the much more appropriate and correct green Philly Int. labels is a bonus!

Just like Groovemaster DJ said, the US 12" promo is the only way to get this thumping, pulsating, killer MFSB instrumental disco classic, which is hard-to-find in general, and rare in collector-grade condition, defined as EX+ (slightly below NM) NM or M. This promo 12" was pressed in smaller quantities than most of the other PIR promo 12"s from the period, and, as I remember well, did not get much attention except from a few top DJs and vinyl junkies who were cued-in to material like this. And, a lot of DJs and music heads from the day all suffered from the same condition - not tracking through an entire LP, not playing the B side of a 12", especially if the "plug side" did not grab you within 30-40 seconds, or playing an instrumental of a track when the vocal side did not quite grab you for club play, thus missing out on it and having to play catch-up years later at a much higher price tag :-)

To die for! A Philly must have!! I am astounded that the Philly All Stars Vocal Mix was designated as the B side against the MFSB Backing Track (Instrumental) as the "EXCLUSIVE" A side. Surely to goodness the Vocal is what the track is all about and the reason for the charity?? or maybe those at PIR felt the thumping pulsating building groove of the backing track would be the better floor filler! Either way the instrumental mix (or backing track) on here is the only place it was ever put out.However............................The Vocal A side also had it's full un-edited 8:42 mix put out on a UK 12" single 23/08/85 (yes I know a bit late but never-the - less, better late than never at all.) And what gives this UK release extra kin-ship and status with the USA promo only 12" is that it too was pressed by CBS (at their UK plant in Aylesbury Bucks 35 miles North West of London). So Had this cut had a UK pressing Promo and or Commercial it would have come from Aylesbury too.It came out on Morgan Khan's Streetwave label that he ran via backing etc from CBS. and it was released as the B side on Khan's new DJ Limited Edition commercial series SWAVE 1The A side was another Philly Int gem and so also from CBS (Columbia Inc)Jean Carn's US Remix of "Was That All It Was" produced by Jerry Butler (6:30)So if it's just the full track as a 12" single (this one cut at 45 rpm) you now have another option in addition to the 12" Album that the track was lifted from USA and UK wise).But....if you want the real mcoy then ASD 369 has to be it naturally. Note: not at all sure about these odd colour vinyl pressings of a vile remix of this gem I'd say avoid. There were ONLY 2 12" original full vocal version pressings of LCUTG of this ever done.1. The USA Philly Int. Promo @ 33.3 rpm 19772. The UK Streetwave Commercial @ 45 rpm 1985Any thing else is up to you......remember it's what's in the grooves that counts...so check the audio out before you buy.
