Deepchord - dc10-dc11-dc12 (Remastered) (2014).

Deepchord (real name Rod Modell) is an electronic music producer from Port Huron, Michigan. He worked with Mike Schommer to produce music under the Deepchord moniker as well as create an eponymous record label; however, currently the project name of Deepchord represents only Modell, who is using a number of aliases besides. The musical style of Deepchord is similar to both the minimal Berlin sound of artists like Basic Channel and the techno tradition of Detroit.

The Echospace label remasters a selection of tracks from a blitz of EPs DeepChord released in 2001. It’s a rare opportunity to bask once more in the d and dissolvent ambience of Rod Modell and Mike Schommer early releases.

i agree, i think this is a very singular sounding record, and achieves something most "dub techno" never does. as well I dont think it sounds a single thing like Von Oswald/Ernestus. I understand why people who took these home from the first DEMF thought something was wrong with the mastering. its like noise music in a sense, with thick layers of eqd,fxd and modulated hiss being penetrated by a buried bass drum and endless hypnotic 2-note sounding but much more complex bassline. I think this an dcv09 are the best, tho to me they are the least "musical" and most just strange, singular dub in the deepchord backcatalog. specifically dcv09s "glass shattering" dubism w the dancing snares. but yeah, side 1 and b1 of this 12" mix great together as well. anyone who thinks this is boring sub level BC/CR/R+S ripoff has shitty ears. if anyone asked for a recommendation from the DeepChord backcatalog it would be this 12" and both "Debris" and "River Place" off dcv09.

Just the other day i was listening to the whole collection of 90's era dub tech from basic channel, chain reaction, din, mainstreet, rhythm & sound, maurizio, etc and ran across the deepchord releases this one in particular standing out to me, as it's so beautiful and unique. This to me defines the true essence of deepchord, this one release as it's not like basic channel and company, it's much more deepchord and really defines a sound they made. Somewhere inbetween time and space, the basslines in this 2 sided release are quite a perfect compliment for such a beautiful production, almost as if you submerged yourself into the depths of space and were left floating in zero gravity. The melodies in both songs get deeper and deeper and evolve over their 12 minute journey into an epic soundscape with an ocean of soul. This release really is one of the best dub tech releases to come out and my best advice is if you can find a copy it's worth every penny.

a beautiful timeless release here from Detroit's deep chord crew who seem to have the sound of analog to a science. This one is EPIC in every meaning of the word, both sides get under your skin only a way a deepchord records could.

One of the dreamiest pieces... both DC 9 & 10 are the calmer, more sleepy dub releases by Deepchord. Soothing stuff with a soft touch of chords. A must, as with all Deepchord releases.
