At Fillmore East is the first live album by American rock band the Allman Brothers Band, and their third release overall. OK, the Allman Brothers Band, was the simple introduction for the band on Friday 12 March 1971 at the Fillmore East in New York’s East Village. Duane’s slide guitar sets off and the sound of Blind Willie McTell’s ‘Statesboro Blues’ begins what is arguably the greatest live album in rock. At Fillmore East was originally a double LP, recorded over both the Friday and Saturday night’s shows and captured the Allman Brothers at the peak of their powers  . Originally a five-minute song from the band’s debut album, it’s lengthened here to over 23 minutes and it is immense. Driven along by the drumming of Jai Johanny ‘Jaimoe’ Johanson and Butch Trucks, this is what Southern rock is all about.

The Allman Brothers Band’s 1971 double album At Fillmore East is often and quite rightly proclaimed as rock’s greatest live release. It still sounds completely fresh, totally inspired and utterly original. It is the gold standard of blues-based rock’n’roll. It took a lot of guts for the band and their record label to put out a two-LP live album as their third release. After all, when it came out in October 1971, the band was something of a commercial flop. Though drawing raves for their marathon live shows that combined the Grateful Dead’s go-anywhere jam ethos with a far superior musical precision, their first two releases had caused barely a ripple out in the marketplace.

Greatest hits album by The Allman Brothers Band. It contains songs selected from their first eight albums, which were released by Capricorn Records - The Allman Brothers Band (1969), Idlewild South (1970), At Fillmore East (1971), Eat a Peach (1972), Brothers and Sisters (1973), Win, Lose or Draw (1975), Wipe the Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas (1976), and Enlightened Rogues (1979).

The allman brothers band’s breakthrough 1971 live album at fillmore east expanded to six-cd box set the 1971 fillmore east recordings. Universal Music Enterprises and Mercury Records to Release The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band’s Historic 1971 Performances At Bill Graham’s Iconic New York City Venue. As Lynskey notes, the Allman Brothers Band’s magic has always existed primarily on the concert stage, but on the weekend of March 12-13, 1971, when they rolled into Manhattan to play four shows at the iconic East Village venue, they raised the bar higher than ever. We were finally starting to catch up with what we were listening to. We had lived togethe. e got in trouble together; we all just moved as a unit.
