Jack Johnson (also known as A Tribute to Jack Johnson on reissues) is a studio album and soundtrack by American jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Miles Davis. It was released on February 24, 1971, by Columbia Records. The album was conceived by Davis for Bill Cayton's documentary of the same name, on the life of boxer Jack Johnson. Its two 25-minute-plus tracks were produced from recordings made on February 18 and April 7, 1970, at 30th Street Studio in New York City

The term American folk music encompasses numerous music genres, variously known as traditional music, traditional folk music, contemporary folk music, or roots music. Many traditional songs have been sung within the same family or folk group for generations, and sometimes trace back to such origins as Great Britain, Europe, or Africa all the music that fits between the cracks.

John Duncan Filmmaker. Edinburgh based filmmaker. John Duncan Filmmaker. August 19, 2018 ·. Having spent the past seven months travelling all over Scotland to shoot my new film, ANCIENT SCOTLAND, I’ve never been more proud to call this country home. Shot at twenty one stunning locations from as the far north as Muckle Flugga at the very top of Shetland to the prehistoric wonder of Britain’s highest sea stacks near St Kilda, some 40 miles west of the Outer Hebrides. Scotland is truly a country made for those who love the outdoors. Get out and explore it!.

Craig Duncan has over 90 albums that range from Polkas, Bluegrass, Folk, and even Celtic music. He has even done Bluegrass versions of Beatles songs! He primarily produces music CDs for the gift shop market but also performs with his various musical groups in a wide array of events and galas. they are using the traditional instruments of the period but it is missing a bit of the passion behind the music. I did stumble across another group of musicians who seem to capture that passion that I am speaking of. The 2nd South Carolina String Band has a few albums with traditional folk music of this period and they sound great. There is singing in these versions but they are wonderful and really have that "knee slapping" vibe to them. I would say that Duncan's album is more relaxed and has a bit more of a "sophisticated" approach to these songs.

I was listening to Pandora at work today and I was introduced to you. The song came from WE GATHER TOGETHER:HOW GREAT THOU ART. I then pulled it up on YouTube and must have replayed it 100 times. That is the first time I can remember hearing acoustic guitars along with a violin. I cannot think of anytime I have heard such picture-perfect harmonies coming from musical instruments.
